Metal Soldiers Interview Interview By Stephen Blackwell Metal Soldiers by Stephen Blackwell metal soldiers - May 31, 2006 There is new Metal Axe Men in town. He is thunder he is lightening. His Axe will cut you a part. Check out 20 Grits Axe Master Tommy Martian. Metal Soldier: Your music is awesome. How long have you been playing?
Tommy: I've been playing since the day I opened my eye's. The doctor said
I was thrown out of my old room because I was banging away
Actually when I was in eliminatory school my friend Peter and his brother Paul Mitten, would came over to my house. I was playing something I wrote on my dads piano.
my friend paul said to me how did you do that?
Metal Soldier: Tell us the history of 20 Grit?
Tommy: It all started with a two track recorder working my way up to a pro recording studio I built with years of experience in the Recording studio Over the years I've learned how to play other Instruments. What I do best is play the guitar. On this CD, I chose 13 song's out of over 400 songs I have written, I played all the instruments, recorded and produced this CD. 12 of the songs on this CD 20 Grit plays live. 1. Nothing Can Stop Me 2. Come Alive 3. Black Ashes 4. O" Bliss 5. Paper Airplane 6. Sunset Night 7. Looking At You 8. Papa 9. Round And Round 10. Till Tomorrow 11. Clock Work 12. Beyond Disorder 13. Linda Jacky I also play one cover tune by Randy Rhodes, it was the instrumental guitar solo Randy Rhodes used to play right after suicide solutions. The song Linda Jacky is just one of those song's to appreciate. Linda Jacky was written about my mom and my grandmother. My mom's name is Linda and my grandmother's name is Jacky. My years of experience in being in bands has always been a name Issue. What are we going to name the band? The name 20 Grit has been through many changes, musicians, working it's way up to professional musicians with experience. In the Marble & Granite fabrication business there are different kinds of sand paper to be used I chose this name 20 Grit for two reason, the number 20 has a soft
spoken sound for ballads, but resembles the sateen silky flavor of
cherry Grit for the sound of a chain-saw.
